I guide coaches and leadership development professionals to access their next level of integrity, authenticity, and impact.
After years of working with different coaching clients, I’ve discovered the niche where I am most able to be of service: Working with other coaches and leadership development professionals.
These are individuals who spend their days developing others, so it’s a given that they already have highly evolved levels of self-awareness and resilience, and have a wealth of knowledge, tools, and resource related to growth and development. Despite all of that knowledge, skills, experience, and capacity, they' ve realized that they hit an edge of their own development that they can’t figure out on their own. For example:
They have realized that they are repeating patterns that aren’t helpful, but despite their understanding of how to guide others through these challenges, these patterns are so deeply entrenched that they aren’t sure how to to break free.
They have begun to sense the limits of the tools, techniques, and frameworks that they currently use to develop others, and want to achieve a deeper level of impact and transformation in their coaching and leadership development work.
They are conscious of having hit some edge in the way that they engage with the world; perhaps it’s a longstanding fear of conflict, or hesitancy to use their voice, or a persistent doubt about their inherent value and worth. They want to grow beyond that edge in order to help others do the same.
This is where I can be of service.
Unlike so many in this profession who transitioned into coaching from careers in fields like law, business, or nonprofit management, I have a Harvard doctorate in human development as well as a certification as an Integral Master Coach. My entire career has been focused on adult development in individuals and leadership development in high-performing nonprofits. I’m also an author, speaker, musician, artist, husband, father, community activist, and lifelong spiritual seeker. I’ve learned that when skilled and experienced coaches and leadership development professionals want to grow beyond their current limitations, I’ve got the depth of knowledge and experience required to provide useful guidance.
“Coaching with Max Klau was literally life changing. I have had many life coaches and mentors before but Max’s work is the deep work. It goes far beyond goal setting and holding you to account. With Max’s guidance and space, I have shifted my very consciousness and ‘levelled up’ moving closer to the person I barely dreamed of prior to the course.”
About Integral Coaching
Integral Coaching weaves together a rigorous understanding of adult development and a highly intuitive, creative practice of connecting deeply with each client. This approach to coaching is not fundamentally about building skills, setting goals, or providing accountability (although all of that may happen in a coaching engagement). It is about guiding clients through a shift in their innermost way of being.
Integral Coaching is grounded in the belief that our current way of being has led us to where we find ourselves right now; if we want to begin creating new possibilities in our lives, than we must grow beyond our current way into a new way that includes and transcends our current way. As we move along this pathway of growth and change, we find ourselves responding to the world in new ways and opening up new possibilities for ourselves on a daily basis.
The result is not just new skills or completed goals; it is a transformed way of relating to the world that endures far beyond the end of our work together.
Here’s how it looks in practical terms:
First, we connect for a initial “chemistry” call. It’s an opportunity for me to learn more about why are you are interested in working with a coach, and a chance for you to ask any questions you may have about me or the coaching experience.
If you choose to move forward, our first coaching session will be dedicated to co-creating a clear focus for this coaching engagement. We’ll get very clear about what we want to work on together.
We’ll then meet regularly (usually for an hour every other week) for seven more sessions. At each session I’ll give you some practices to focus on that are thoughtfully designed to help you grow and develop towards the focus we agreed upon earlier.
As an Integral Coach, our focus will be on supporting you through a shift in your way of being. This is not fundamentally about skill building or accountability (although those things may happen); this is about you growing and evolving into a new way of being that allows you to engage with and resond to the world in new and productive ways.
I’m a deep and compassionate listener, and my focus will be on you and your unique journey and goals. Together, we’ll connect with the inner knowing and clarity within your soul that you can look to serve others with more integrity, authenticity, and impact in the years ahead.
